Nomadic Vixen Thoughts

There's been a minor misconception about me on trips. A lot of my family members and, what I can presume, my friends as well, think that I'm "stuck-up" when traveling. That's not that case, I tell you ! First, let me say that, the more I travel, the more I realize things about myself that have never noticed before. I'm not that big into "sight-seeing" or " activities". I'm also very quiet at times when I have a lot racing through my mind. Which I usually do have when I'm traveling for the sole fact that, I am trying to retain and take in as much as I can. I'm a multi-tasking but I do need to focus for certain things. I don't like being seen or known as a tourist in places. I want to meet the locals. I want to blend in with the crowd, acting as if being there is absolutely nothing to me, like it's just another day. When, in fact, it is everything. I'm a calm, relaxed person. You can call me a chill traveller. I never really freak out over things and I'm usually just along for the ride. The things that I enjoy most about traveling is just being emerged in a different surrounding, a different atmosphere. Taking the vibes from the city and the city's people in, feeling the change of energy. The right side of my brain tends to take over. The thing is that I like to explore new things and create my own adventures. Why let someone else show their idea of a perfect day in a city when I can create my own. My ideal day traveling anywhere in the world would be heading out to the lunch and then seeing where the day takes me. Letting fate take the wheel of my day and life, directing me into the arms, or places of that I need to be in. The most beautiful thing about traveling is that you're no one. You're literally creating you're own steps in the world. Physically and figuratively, leaving your footprint in a city. Wandering the streets aimlessly isn't always a bad thing. I'm not wandering because I'm lost. I'm wandering because I want to see the places that aren't on my map. Isn't that the point of traveling, seeing the world ? But I mean, REALLY, seeing it, and not just seeing what The New York Times deems worthy of visiting. Seeing the roots of the city you're in. The small cafe on the corner that started the annual poetry slams and, the people who are daily visitors. Going the park that someone met the first love at. To go places and not just say that I've been there but, to say that I created a memory there. It's one thing to go somewhere, it's another thing to do something somewhere. That's the traveling that I like to do. Maybe I say this because I am right-sided. Maybe I say this because I am artistic, even a little bit eccentric. Or maybe I say this because I see the world a completely different way than what others do.

"Please be a traveler, not a tourist. Try new things, meet new people, and look beyond what’s right in front of you. Those are the keys to understanding this amazing world we live in.”

A little boy crazy

As a huge Sex and the City fan I have started to see a correlation in my life. Maybe it's because I make the same mistakes with it comes to guys or even the fact, that I am always broke yet, manage to afford my high maintaince ways. But no, it's about the guys. It's ALWAYS about the guys. And the guys in my life have seem to reflected the guys that Carrie, Samantha and Miranda have dated. I would involve charlottles men but, I actually thought Charlottle had a good love life. I've come to the conclusion that they can be divided into the four categories.

Mr.Big : The unattainable one. Over the top with his words. He makes you swoon. He brings you on this emotional roller coaster. That, for some unexplainable reason, you always get back on. You love to hate him but hate to love him. I think every girl has met this guy. The one that no matter what his done to you, you'll always care. You can't seem to shake him. That's your Mr.Big

Aiden Shaw : The Hopeless Romantic. The good guy. The one who isn't afraid to commit to you. Who has absolutely everything to offer you. On paper, his paper. But in real life ... Missing something you just can't put your finger on. This guy loves you, would do anything for you. But you hurt him. And he forgives you and, still thinks the world of you. But yet you always find yourself pushing him away. That's your Aiden Shaw.

Richard Wright : The lover. The over-lover. He says he loves you but he has a wandering eye. In fact, it's not you in specific he loves but woman in general. And he just feels that he must spread his love to everyone. He doesn't want to settle down. He wants to explore the world and the woman in it, at the expense of your heart. That's your Richard Wright. Who really isn't right for you at all.

Steve Brady : The dreamer. The sweetheart. The ambitious one. He may seem a little too .. Under your league. But his real lover. He cares. He want the best for everyone. And his definitely not afraid to commit to you. His your best friend who has the best intentions. Although a little misguided at times. A bit annoying at times with his infatuation with you. But you know his hearts in the best place. That's your Steve Brady.

Now, I'm not trying to judge EVERY guy in the world. I'm positive that not every guy in this world can fit into these four fictional male characteristics. It just so happens that majority of the ones I met do. Am I lucky or what ? Clearly. Any of the guys in your life seem to match the ones from Sex and the City ?

Not so " Sex and The City" of me

Hey guys, so I've been posting a lot of "OOTD" and other pictures and I've been neglecting my writing. I actually love writing so, I do believe that writing should be a big part of what my blog is about. My blog is a reflection of myself in ways that I can't express otherwise, just as fashion is. Which is why I believe personal style is so  important. The way you dress and present yourself is how others will you see you. I fully believe in " If you look good, you feel good. " I try to make my outfits reflect who I am. For that day at least ;-) There are so many things that can affect what I decide to adventure my day in, from the weather, to the mood I went to bed in, even the music that I listen too ! You can see my mood and feelings through my outfits, I'd like to think. Yes, many days I do just throw on random shit and leave my house. Sometimes putting on some pants and a bra is the biggest struggle of my day . Most days I just want to sit in bed, watch Sex and The City, stuff my face with junk food and contemplate my life. Lately, I have been feeling very out of whack with my own body, emotions and life. I am just a teenage girl ( newly turned 17 !! ) learning how to live my life. Key words : MY. LIFE. I find that there are a lot of restrictions and complications to being a girl turning into a woman who is rather a wild thing. And by wild I mean out-going, adventurous, dreaming, over-loving and maybe even a bit high maintenance. Regardless of all the complications, restrictions and unrealistic social views of what a womans' body should look like and, what a woman should act like it teaches you an invaluable lesson. Chose yourself. Always. It's not about choosing the "right" dress, "right" man, or "right" job. It's about choosing the "right" version of yourself which will, eventually, lead you to all of those things. However, with stating that, its poses another great question. "How do you ever know when it's right ? " Is it the moments when you feel that indescribable feeling ? Or the times when you're left speechless from the words or actions of someone else ? I don't know. Who really does ? I think before you can ask yourself  "If it's right", you have to ask yourself " If it's wrong"

Seventeen Candles

It's my birthday today guys ! Seventeen years of living. I'm only seventeen, I am so young yet I feel as if I need to figure my stuff out and, get my life together. I am so blessed and lucky to have the family I have and the friends. And I had a hard talk this weekend that told me to be more grateful and appreciative of what I have. I think I'm going to try that more.  I had a quite amazing birthday weekend. Sunday, I went to sushi dinner with my famjam and my best friend Marissa. We ordered too much ! I passed out early and my alarm woke me up at 12 am on the dot for my birthday ! My phone was ringing off the hook with calls and text, everyone is so sweet ! My family then put on a HUGE brunch for me. (I am a huge Gossip Girl and Blair Waldorf is my queen. So it was a  "Upper East Siders Brunch") Beyond amazing.  I was full all day. I then headed downtown with my friends and did some shopping. I love my city ! Vancouver was amazing to me today. Oh, and I got the best presents.(Not trying to brag or boast, I genuinely love my gifts) My Uncle and his family got me a visa master giftcard, which I spent at Urban Outfitters today on Rookie : Year one book. My aunt and her boyfriend got me a Brandy Melville wallet, Brandy Melville Giftcard (which I bought a red maxi with)  Zara Cape Town perfume and, Style Feed; The Best Fashion Bloggers book. And my parents are giving me money to go shopping on the weekend. All and all, a very fabulous birthday ! Pictures from my birthday weekend are below.
